There was not a lot of movement in the FC Barcelona squad in the last winter transfer window despite their desire to bring in an offensive reinforcement for Hansi Flick, for which they needed to sell some of their current players.
While none of their players left, several Blaugrana players had a lot of demand in the market, and some of them even had offers on the table. This was the case for Eric Garcia, whom Girona were once again looking to sign.
Another player who had a strong demand in the last winter market was Ferran Torres, who could have been involved in a multi-layered transfer operation.
The Spanish striker Álvaro Morata left AC Milan to join the Turkish side Galatasaray in the last few days of the winter window. This departure left a gap in the Rossoneri attack, which was ultimately filled in by the Portuguese forward, João Félix, who had spent the last season on loan at FC Barcelona.
However, before they signed Felix, MARCA reports that Milan were looking to incorporate Ferran Torres. They even asked the Blaugranes about the possibility of a move, but were met with a blunt negative response from Deco, and the two sides did not even enter negotiations for his sale.
The Casciavit have been looking to get the Barcelona winger for quite some time now. Last summer, they had him in their sights as a possible replacement for Rafael Leão, but the Portuguese winger ended up staying at Milan at that time.
Similarly, several other sides across Europe have also been interested in him. One such side was Napoli, who wanted Torres to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently joined PSG. However, they also received the same answer from Barcelona as Milan, i.e., a resounding no.
German clubs like Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have also made inquiries about him in the past and already knew of the impossibility of such an operation. Similarly, Arsenal and Tottenham from the Premier League have also been interested in him, while the €28 million-rated Spaniard has also generated interest from Saudi Arabia.
But despite this high demand and their need to sell, Barcelona are clear that Torres is an important part of the squad, despite him not being a starter.
