There is no doubt that 17-year-old FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is one of the most promising youngsters in European football today.
At just 17 years of age, the Spaniard has already established himself as one of the most distinctive players in the game, with his performances recently recognized at the highest level when he won the Kopa Trophy just a few days ago.
This trophy was a clear recognition of the high level the €150m-rated La Masia graduate has shown in the last year or so, not only with Barcelona but also with the Spanish national team. He was one of the key players for his national side as they won the UEFA EURO 2024 last summer.
Naturally, his performances have been commended by several notable individuals in the world of football. As Fabrizio Romano has highlighted, the latest person to speak highly of the Barcelona youngster was his national side captain, Alvaro Morata, who spoke very highly of the teenager as he appeared in an interview with The Athletic FC.
The former Real Madrid striker was clear that he had never seen a player as good as Yamal: “To be honest, I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve never seen a player like him… One training session was enough to realize he’s different, that he’s one of the fenomeni… he’s incredible”
Morata is only the latest individual to have praised the Barcelona youngster, and his word is easy to believe because although he has never shared a club dressing room with him, he has played several times with Yamal in the Spanish national team.
Hopefully, the 17-year-old winger will continue to develop and grow while maintaining the high level he has shown thus far, establishing himself as a true great not only for Barcelona but also for Spain and football at large.
