FC Barcelona have several players with outstanding potential in their reserve teams, who can grow to become truly world-class footballers in the future. Among others, the name of Mikayil Faye is a very prominent one in this regard.
Having arrived at the Catalan club last summer, the Senegalese center-back has been very impressive with Rafa Marquez’s Barcelona Atletic team.
His explosiveness and commitment that he shows in defensive actions are attracting interest from clubs across Europe, especially from sides that put a greater emphasis on strength and physicality.
As SPORT has reported, the German side Eintracht Frankfurt is the latest to join the pursuit of the highly-rated center-back and is open to paying more than €10 million to obtain the youngster.
As already reported here, the French side RC Lens have also already sent a formal bid for the 19-year-old defender. The offer is for a loan with the obligatory option to buy Faye, but Barcelona have rejected this and all previous advances for the defender.
Both these clubs already know that Faye would not be changing clubs in January, but they are still trying to lure the Senegalese away from the Catalan club, not only with a superior economic offer but also by offering the chance to play in the first-team.
As things stand, Faye is not likely to be promoted to the Barcelona first-team yet. RC Lens had offered around €8-9 million for the defender, and Eintracht’s offer will be similar, but can also exceed the €10 million mark.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are also aware of the growth and progression that the defender is showing and will have to make a decision about him in the coming year. If they can guarantee a first-team spot to the youngster, he will prefer staying at Barcelona, but if he remains with the B team, problems can arise with his continuity at the club.
