For FC Barcelona, it never hurts to look ahead in the future to find possible solutions early. The Catalan giants are already riddled with a lot of financial debt, so some foresight would not have hurt them previously. However, even for a club like Barcelona, foresight should be realistic.

La Blaugrana are not in the same position as they were several years ago. They are no longer the invincible team that could get whoever and whatever they wanted. Now, it seems that normality has kicked in and the realization of their current reality has finally settled.

One of those realizations is the problems with the current management. While Xavi undoubtedly arrived at a time when the club needed a manager to take over, his tenure has recently shown its deficiencies. While nothing is set in stone, there could be a possible future for Barça without Xavi.

Keeping that in mind, it seems that the club already has a few options in mind. One of them, according to Adrian Sanchez, is Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta. While he is not a definitive target as of right now, Barça seem to really appreciate the work he has done over in England.

In terms of his contract, Arteta is currently obligated to Arsenal until the summer of 2025. Having been with the Gunners since the end of 2019, the Spaniard has been leading the English team for almost more than 4 years now.

He managed to take a struggling side that barely managed to touch European standards and took them to now being a proper competitor in both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. For Barcelona, another factor of interest lies in the coach’s past.

Formerly, Arteta was a player grown and developed within Barcelona. He came up through the ranks and was even part of the first team for a while. This recollection and understanding of the Barcelona ideology has even helped him implement that style into his Arsenal team.

Moreover, while he was an assistant coach at Manchester City, Arteta learned directly from Pep Guardiola. The legendary former Barcelona player and coach has cemented himself as one of the greatest masterminds the game has ever seen, and Arteta possessed the direct tutelage of that genius.
