Apart from the exception of a few stars, FC Barcelona are in a position where they consider most players to be worth considering for sale given their rather vulnerable economic standing that continues to be a problematic concern for them.
The club considers themselves to be financially restricted and lacking a proper allocation of funds that would ideally have allowed them to operate more freely during transfer windows. Consequently, Barcelona are all ears to possible offers that may arrive for particular stars.
Most recently, one club from the English Premier League seems to be interested in a Barcelona player not too deeply involved in the plans of Xavi Hernandez. The player in question is none other than Eric Garcia and the club reportedly interested in him is Arsenal, as per the outlet ‘Football Transfers’.
The report claims that the English side led by Spaniard Mikel Arteta could be looking for a replacement for injured defender Jurrien Timber, whose recent ACL injury has left Arsenal looking for a rather mobile defender who can play multiple positions and is comfortable on the ball.
As such, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia is seen as a viable replacement for the Dutch defender who came from Ajax this season himself to join the Gunners in London.
For now, the 22-year-old Spanish defender remains at FC Barcelona without a prominent role and sits behind the likes of Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Inigo Martinez, and possibly even Marcos Alonso in terms of the hierarchy of defenders at the club.
While Arsenal maintain their interest as confirmed by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo recently, MD does clarify that Barcelona are currently unwilling to lose any more of their defensive players apart from Clement Lenglet, for whom they continue to negotiate.
Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez in particular now wishes to retain his current squad and build a proper system and planning around it for the ongoing season.
