Following their return to the 1:1 rule, FC Barcelona are already reportedly looking to make some changes in their squad. Opposite to the previous expectations, the Catalans are now open to selling some of their less important players and bringing in some new reinforcements for Hansi Flick ahead of the second half of the season.
However, they will first have to find new destinations for some of their players who are not really needed in the current project. Meanwhile, they can also get a significant boost to their coffers if some of their former players on whom they still have some rights change clubs in January.
One such player who has a good chance of making a move in January is the defender Óscar Mingueza, who has been one of the revelation players in La Liga this season and for whom Barcelona have a 50% right to any future transfer fee. His good performances for Celta Vigo this season have already earned him to be called up by Luis de la Fuente for the Spanish national team.
Similarly, these good performances have also caught the attention of big clubs across Europe. According to Mundo Deportivo, the latest team to show an interest in the defender is the Premier League side Aston Villa.
Although the English team has not yet taken any specific steps for his transfer, he still remains one of the main targets for Unai Emery, while the Aston Villa board also holds him in high regard.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will be rubbing their hands with excitement for this latest development, as Mingueza has a €20 million release clause, and with their 50% right on any fee paid for him, the Blaugranes will get €10 million in their coffers if the English club, or any other side, ends up paying his release clause in January.
