With only a minimum of margins separating the three teams at the top of the La Liga table, FC Barcelona must have understood that they cannot afford to lose any points going forward.

However, they were still far from their best as they visited the Canary Islands last night for their match against Las Palmas.

The first half of this game went without any of the teams scoring a goal, but things changed in the second half as Dani Olmo made his way to the pitch and scored the goal that ultimately was enough to get his side the full three points.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spanish midfielder also spoke to the media after having made the crucial intervention for his team. Olmo commented on how Las Palmas made things difficult for Barcelona:

“UD Las Palmas is a team that defends very well, closes down the inside spaces effectively, and required us to be more patient. Then, everything opened up a bit more in the second half, and we found the spaces.”

The Blaugrana star has missed several games this season due to injuries, and took this opportunity to provide an update about his fitness:

“I’m at one hundred percent, ready to return to the team and keep bringing my energy until the end. I feel very good and happy to be playing again, helping the team with goals and winning, which is the most important thing.”

From here on, the Barcelona midfielder understood his team has its fate in its own hands in the La Liga race:

“We don’t feel any pressure; we want to be at the top and know that it depends on us. The important thing is that we got the three points.”

As has been the case several times this season, Olmo was once again at hand to help his team get an important victory. Hopefully, he will continue to make such contributions in the coming weeks as well, and also maintain his fitness to remain available to Flick for the decisive stretch of the season up ahead.
