Barcelona already have a set of plans for the summer transfer window and they believe certain signings and positions are of the essence if they are to compete next season for multiple titles and improve upon their standings from this season, particularly as they look to compete well in the UEFA Champions League.
While the primary priority positions remain those of the midfield and the secondary striker, there are also existing plans for the right back position as well as a potential winger arriving as per the economic allowance that Barcelona end up with.
According to SPORT, this winger would be none other than 29-year-old Belgian forward Yannick Carrasco who is currently employed by La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.
Following the sale of Memphis Depay to the Madrid-based outfit, a clause was included that would in the future allow FC Barcelona to sign Yannick Carrasco at a lowered transfer fee than his €25 million market value.
This clause in particular is what prompts Mateu Alemany to consider this potential signing as an opportunity worth capitalizing upon sooner rather than never.
As of right now, Xavi Hernandez understands and emphasizes that the departures of two forwards such as Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres are already in contention alongside the possible sale of the returning loanee Ez Abde as well.
This would consequently leave behind more openings in the attack and give Barcelona the opportunity to deploy the Belgian should he arrive as well, and allow Xavi to have at his disposal a more diverse plethora of attacking styles and options.
For now, his signing does not exactly take precedent as the club perceives that significant portions of their allocated transfer budget will be spent on the midfield and second striker positions, with Carrasco only then to be considered based on the aftermath regarding the funds and sporting situation of the club.
