FC Barcelona are currently blessed with various star players who are able to contribute to the team. Xavi Hernandez has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal in terms of quality players. However, the Blaugranes do have some stars that continue to await the settlement of their respective futures.
One such player among the various superstars at FC Barcelona is Joao Felix. The Portuguese star arrived from La Liga club Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window. Alongside Joao Cancelo, Felix arrived on the final day of the window on a loan deal that is active until the end of the season.
Impressive displays
However, as Mundo Deportivo assesses it, Joao Felix continues to give more reasons as to why Barça should make his stay permanent. Beyond the obvious economic problems associated with making his transfer permanent, there is no doubt from a sporting perspective.
Capable forward
The 23-year-old has shown himself to be Barça’s most lethal and effective forward in the absence of other star players. Despite not having Robert Lewandowski or Raphinha on his side, Felix continues to perform. Against Athletic Bilbao, he was once again the danger man for Barcelona and thwarted Bilbao’s goal the most.
Ultimately, he would be instrumental in getting Barcelona all three points. With a great deal of technique and precision, he dished out a sublime assist to Marc Guiu. The 17-year-old would then use that chance to score the only goal for Barcelona and win them the game.
Barcelona determined
While Atletico’s reported asking price of €80 million is impossible for Barcelona to meet, the Catalans would love to ensure Felix’s continuity. Joan Laporta himself previously confirmed his desire to make the player’s loan permanent.
With 3 goals and 4 assists to his name between all competitions, Felix is making a great case for himself. While he continues to perform for Barcelona, he has done so for Portugal as well simultaneously. In fact, his performances were so evidently positive that even Roberto Martinez could not help but acknowledge his participation.
