The higher-ups of FC Barcelona continue to work on last-minute arrivals at the club should the need arise for the Catalan giants and should the demands of Xavi Hernandez require the club to bring in said recruitments.
While the transfer of Manchester City fullback Joao Cancelo is already taking longer than Barcelona would have hoped for, and is expected to be concluded in the final days of the summer window, there is the possibility of another Portuguese player also arriving in the final days.
According to journalist Achraf Ben Ayad, Barcelona continues to be the desired destination of 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who still has a rather strained relationship with his current club and head coach Diego Simeone.
Furthermore, the player continues to wait for FC Barcelona and several sources indicate that he will continue to wait till the very final day of the summer transfer window for the Catalan club hoping that the operation ends up becoming feasible for them at the very end.
For now, Barcelona continue to monitor other targets primarily such as the arrival of a right-back and possibly that of a midfielder before they even consider the possibility of bringing in Joao Felix, who does remain a great opportunity for Barcelona to take advantage of this summer.
The 23-year-old in particular attracts the interest of Barcelona president Joan Laporta according to a recent report, while others from the club are reportedly not so keen on the arrival of the Portuguese star who also happens to be the record signing of Atletico Madrid.
As things stand, Barcelona are only contemplating the arrival of the player on a loan deal without needing to invest too much of their financial allowance on the deal as they already struggle with Financial Fairplay.
