FC Barcelona have a long season ahead of them with several competitions to worry about. Ranging from domestic contests to European encounters, the expectations on Barcelona are high and their aspirations are to match those expectations.
However, the Catalan giants have plenty to be excited about. With a revitalised team, a more mature version of Xavi Hernandez as well as impactful summer arrivals, Barcelona seem well-equipped to deal with all hurdles that come their way and express themselves properly.
One new arrival in particular who has lit up the field in Blaugrana colors is Joao Felix. The 23-year-old Portuguese forward is currently on loan at Barcelona from Atletico Madrid until the end of the season, but has already begun to impact Barca’s matches significantly.
As a result, according to journalist Manu Sainz of Diario AS, Atletico Madrid themselves are now ‘rubbing their hands’ at the prospect of being able to sell Felix in the upcoming summer window for a hefty fee. According to the update, their goal is to be able to sell him for €80 million at the very least as it stands.
The Madrid-based team themselves paid close to €126 million to SL Benfica when they originally bought Felix in 2019. However, it is safe to say the Portuguese talent did not adapt too well and has not managed to properly justify the price tag.
In Barcelona, however, the image is completely different. The Portuguese star has now managed to score 3 goals and provide 2 assists in a total of 7 games for the Catalans across all competitions.
Moreover, his influence within the game is second to none and he has taken over the left-wing position as a guaranteed starter as well.
As for Atletico’s reported price tag, it is quite unlikely that Barcelona will be able to match it. Negotiations will have to take place in the scenario that the Blaugranes wish to retain him permanently, and the price will have to be drastically lowered on top of that.
