Barca 3-3 Inter Milan: Xavi’s reaction

Xavi spoke about the mistakes, La Liga, the upcoming El Classico, the mentality of the team, and the draw against Inter Milan in his post-match press conference.

Barca 3-3 Inter Milan: Xavi’s reaction

Xavi on the current group stage situation:

“I am very disappointed, sad, and upset. I also feel angry because last year it didn’t hit us as much, but this year I think we were out because of our mistakes, and that hurt more. We have to be self-critical, we don’t deserve to continue like this in this competition”

Xavi on the match against Inter:

“This Champions League is being cruel to us… But in the second half, we made a lot of mistakes. The first goal was a clear mistake by the defensive line, and we [within the dressing room] had talked about it.”

Xavi on Barca’s mistakes:

“Football is a game of mistakes and it’s about minimizing them, today we have made very serious mistakes that have cost us.”

“In the first half we played well, in the second half the mistakes made us retreat mentally. These mistakes cannot happen in world football.”

Xavi on Barca’s mentality:

“People saw that we played with our heart, but we can’t fail. In Munich it was our effectiveness, in Milan it was other circumstances and today it was our mistakes. The Champions League is very complicated, we have to change our mindset for La Liga.”

“If you don’t beat Inter in the Camp Nou, you don’t deserve to qualify, we have a small but difficult chance.”

Xavi on the upcoming El Clasico game:

“Let’s hope that today’s game doesn’t affect us for El Clásico in terms of mentality, the players have given their all today.”

“We have to think about El Clásico, the Champions League has become complicated. It’s a shame.”

That concluded Xavi’s press conference.

  1. Dear Mr Xavi,
The team played well. Much better than in Italy. They were shooting and this is important. Howere mistakes were crucial. I think Raphinia is a good player and should play more. No profit from Torres – he shoots always wide. I would not hang on him. Regards Butinar
