Dembele Being Sighted as a Potential Neymar Replacement
Ousmane Dembele has had a good first half of the season following his contract renewal drama during the last summer window and has been one of the top performers of the team. These performances have also caught the eye of PSG’s leadership, who have now identified Dembele as the player to replace Neymar.
Barcelona Fined for Breaching Financial Fair Play Rules by La Liga:
La Liga has imposed a fine of €800,000 on FC Barcelona for breaching the wage limit on three different occasions last season. La Liga believe the contracts handed to Ronald Araujo, Dani Alves, and Andreas Christensen all took the club over the approved wage limit. However, Barcelona has contended the penalty in a second instance committee run by Uefa.
One sanction upheld by Uefa License Second Instance Committee:
FC Barcelona filed an appeal against the 3 sanctions imposed by La Liga and one of the 3 sanctions has been declared void by UEFA License Second Instance Committee after hearing the appeal and reduced the fine to €580,000 from €800,000.
The Committee reviewed the transfer of Andreas Christensen and declared that his contract does not breach FFP rules for the 2021/22 financial year as the player joined the Catalan giants officially in the 2022/23 season.
Inaki Pena Promoted to First Team
The first move of the winter transfer window for Barcelona has been made in the form of giving the La Masia graduate goalkeeper, Inaki Pena, a first-team number after being registered with the first team. The youngster has been allotted the #13 shirt, and he will be the first deputy to Ter Stegen from now on.
Barcelona face Competition from Another Liga Team for Kamada
Daichi Kamada has been one of the top performers for Eintracht Frankfurt for the last few seasons and played an integral part in his club winning the Europa League title last season.
As his contract runs down at the end of this season, Barcelona have shown an interest in bringing him to Camp Nou. However, Sevilla have also entered the race to sign him, and are expected to give tough competition to Barcelona for Kamada’s signing as per the reports from Football Espana.
