Barca vs Getafe: Xavi’s press conference

Barca vs Getafe: Xavi spoke about Frenkie’s situation, Lewandowski’s possible arrival, Ronald Araujo’s participation in tomorrow’s game, the age limit to sign new players, possible exits, Adama’s role, and strengthening the squad for the next season.

Xavi spoke to the press ahead of Barca vs Getafe

Xavi on Ronald Araujo’s participation against Getafe:

“He fainted against Celta but he wants to play tomorrow, which means a lot to us. It depends on his feelings.”

Xavi on tomorrow’s game:

“We want to take a step forward, we will try to create chances and win tomorrow.”

Xavi on the signings for the next season:

“As a coach, I will take responsibility for making decisions and communicating them to the management. Things depend on our economic situation. In a few days, we will know our situation and start planning for the next season.”

Xavi on Frenkie’s de Jong’s situation:

“Frenkie de Jong is an important player for me and he started in every game except for a few rotations. It depends on the economic condition of the club but I’m not talking about Frenkie but in general.”

Xavi on selling players in the summer:

“Are some players not for sale? Absolutely. However, we have to determine that by knowing our specific economic situation.”

Xavi on Morata being linked to Barca:

“Morata? I will not answer any questions about players who are not part of our team, it will not help us.”

Xavi on winning titles:

“I’m an optimist, I think the team has to be competitive. We didn’t manage to compete at a high level this season but we have to fight for trophies next season. We are Barca.”

Xavi on Lewandowski:

“I’m not going to talk about Lewandowski but I will remind you that I signed Dani Alves. All we care about is a professional mentality. Players like Modric, Ronaldo, and Messi. They are all still playing at a high level. Age isn’t an obstacle.”

Xavi on strengthening the squad:

“It is essential to have two players in each position. ”

Xavi on exits in the summer transfer window:

“We have not yet talked to players who are not in our plans for next season, because the season is not over. We need them all 100%. We will finish the season and then we will talk.”

Xavi on Balde:

“We really appreciate him. He trains with the team. Tomorrow he will be on the squad list and may get minutes.”

Xavi on Getafe:

“Getafe has improved a lot with Quique Sachez Flores. We have to play better than we did against Celta and be competitive. We will go out to win and go for the 3 points.”

Xavi on Nico going on loan:

“He is an important player for me. He has also scored goals, and I’m glad he’s helping us.”

Xavi on the game against Celta Vigo:

“We analyzed the game after against Celta Vigo, we watched videos. If you want to play football well, you must not lose the ball.”

Xavi on Adama’s role:

“We will make a decision as soon as we know the club’s situation. It is true he played well when he came, but he is in a competitive position with Ferran & Dembele. When Adama was superior to Dembele, he was playing. We make choices in every match.”

Xavi on the age limit as a criterion to sign new players:

“We want to sign players who can make the difference and help the team to improve. Certainly, a player between the age of 25 to 33 is more mature than a young player. Age is not a priority for us, but we can take that into account in our choices.”

That concluded Xavi’s pre-match press conference.
