Barca vs NY Red Bulls: Xavi’s pre-match press conference

Xavi spoke about Kounde’s arrival, Messi’s return, Pique’s role after Kounde’s arrival, preferred formation for the next season, registering new signings and the match against NY Red Bulls in his pre-match press conference.

Xavi’s pre-match press conference

Xavi on Kounde’s arrival:

“Kounde is an excellent signing and I am grateful, I have spoken with him a few times, he knows what I want from him and I think he is a great signing for the team and he will make the difference. He will also try to compete for trophies.”

“We are happy that Kounde is coming, he is good with the ball, fast and aggressive. He will help us in the fast games.”

Will Kounde’s arrival make Pique play less?

“Everyone starts from scratch and will compete for the spot, I’ve said it many times.”

Xavi on Messi’s return:

“Messi has a contract now, we have to focus on our season now. I wish that Messi’s time in Barcelona is not over yet. I think he deserves a second chance. If the question is do I want him back? Definitely yes.”

Xavi on the objectives for the next season:

“We have to win titles, that’s the goal.”

Xavi on his preferred formation for this season:

“3-4-3? Yes, we played in this formation a few games last season, although it is dangerous because we left spaces behind, but maybe we will rely on it. Currently, we are planning 4-3-3.”

Xavi on the Us Tour:

“At the moment we have very good sensations. It is being a very good tour, and the feelings are very positive. The whole season is ahead of us, but we are on the right track. I tell the players that we are not playing a friendly game, these are opportunities for them.”

Xavi on squad depth:

“Two players must be available in each position to compete, there are injuries during the season. We sign players, but without breaking the rules. We have to find solutions for the departures as well. We have until August 31.”

That concluded Xavi’s press conference
