The recent victory over Real Sociedad will give some breathing room to FC Barcelona. La Blaugrana needed the win to ensure that they retained second place in La Liga, and so they did. Winning the game itself, however, was far from a smooth experience for Barcelona.

The Catalan giants had to wait until the 40th minute for their first goal to arrive. Eventually, it would be a wonderful play from Robert Lewandowski to Ilkay Gundogan that would ultimately set up Lamine Yamal to score the opener for Barcelona.

However, before this goal calmed the nerves of the people there, there were some hostile voices in the crowd covered in Blaugrana colors. As highlighted by SPORT, before the first goal came for Barcelona, there were fans in the Montjuic who were clearly discontent with the way things were going.

Moreover, that built-up frustration was made to be heard when a part of the fans started chanting in unison against the Barcelona president, Joan Laporta: “Barça yes, Laporta no!”

This came coupled with chants saying “Barça is us”, clearly showcasing a lack of faith in the administration of the current Barcelona board. A hard season for the club, the lack of silverware and disasters in big games have left the fans yearning for much more from their beloved club.

Furthermore, with the entire Vitor Roque situation still being fresh in everyone’s memories, it is easy to see why the fans are this agitated right now.

Many people have come on social media to support the ‘injustice’ that is happening with the Brazilian youngster, and the primary criticism has gone towards the Barcelona board and Xavi Hernandez.

Eventually, nerves were calmed as Barcelona ended up taking the lead and ultimately winning the game. However, this instance should not be taken lightly, as it underlines some massive divisions among the fanbase as well.

Whatever the solution ends up being to please these Barcelona fans, the board and the coaches need to figure themselves out for next season.
