Frenkie and Dembele came to rescue Barcelona in the 2nd half as the opposition was launching fusillades in transitions and Barca struggled to keep possession.
Fc Barcelona have found themselves slightly struggling against the German opposition as they have had to deal with high press coupled with compactness at the back and threatening counter-attacks. Xavi tried to change things with his substitutions and it worked well.
Frenkie and Dembele’s inclusion changed the dynamics of the game. Pedri moved to the left and Frenkie helped gain authority in the center which helped Barca to open up the game. Moments later, Frenkie, Dembele, and Ferran Torres linked flawlessly to score the equalizer.
Barca gained control after the substitutions but the hosts were on their toes and created all sorts of troubles with their aggressive pressing and quick counter-attacks.
Eric Garcia has played one of his best in Blaugrana colors against an extremely well-drilled, physically dominant counter-attacking side.
Gavi also had a decent game as well. He made some decent blocks and engraved everyone with his feistiness and amazing work rate.
Barca still stumbles to defend in quick transitions and Xavi knows it and tries to counteract it by having sound spells of possession and by establishing authority in the middle of the park but it wasn’t the case last night.
Overall, the performance was not up to the mark but fetching a Draw is undoubtedly a good result considering the fact that the 2nd leg is to be played at Camp Nou.
