Barcelona 3-1 Real Madrid: Player Ratings

Barcelona player ratings after the 3-1 win against Real Madrid in Spanish Super Cup Final

Following an utter domination of Real Madrid by the hands of the Catalan outfit, the Spanish Super Cup returns to the city of Barcelona and there was a dutiful performance by those who helped bring it back.

Player Ratings:

Ter Stegen: 7.5

Constantly in control whenever he had the ball at his feet, Ter Stegen was never in danger of getting pressured. Conceded late in a goal he could not have done much else to avoid, the German international was otherwise thoroughly solid.

Balde: 8.0

Showcasing both the perks of youth and immense physical athleticism, paired up with smart decision-making, Balde was an absolute treat to watch.

Andreas Christensen: 8.0

Did not put a single wrong foot down and conceded particular fouls only when tactically needed, the Danish may just have been the missing piece between that Araujo and Kounde connection.

Jules Kounde: 8.5

Exceptional and exquisite, Kounde showcased maturity and domination when called upon. Rocking Vinicius when he inverted and stopped any sort of bypassing passes, the Frenchman was at his very best, as he so often is.

Ronald Araujo: 8.5

Dominating, towering, and aggressive in his pursuit of attackers, Araujo ensured Vinicius Jr. was not allowed a moment to breathe and gain some sort of control on that left flank for Madrid. The Uruguayan was a menace throughout the match.

Pedri: 8.5

Running the team from start to finish, and connecting passing lanes from even the tightest of spaces. Scored the third for Barca as well as being the connecting hub of the entire passing network. Brilliant display by the youngster.

Frenkie De Jong: 8.0

An absolute masterclass by the Dutchman. Consistently created chances and openings for his team, as well as created a crucial goal with a spectacular through ball. Played well in whatever rotating role he was being deployed throughout the game.

Sergio Busquets: 8.0

A stroll of nostalgia, Busquets managed to capture some of his old frighteningly inhumane passing vision and turns back into this game, allowing Barcelona to dominate proceedings well beyond anyone’s control or hopes.

Gavi: 9.5

Wonderkid, Wonder class, and one can only fathom the heights this youngster is yet to reach. 1 goal and 2 assists does no justice to just how much more impactful this young Spaniard was against Real Madrid of all teams and in a final no less. Man of the match.

Ousmane Dembele: 7.0

While he was unable to take an active part in any goal statistic, he was an absolute joy to watch throughout his time on the field. Was an absolute menace to deal with for Ferland Mendy.

Robert Lewandowski: 8.0

Scored and assisted each, Robert Lewandowski’s power and shot accuracy, coupled with his mature game sense, asserted Barcelona many a times in very favorable positions when on the prowl for a goal. A sore miss when he’s not available, and a crucial part of Xavi’s masterplan.

Substitutes:

Raphinha: 6.5

Came in after Barcelona were already cruising, made sure to just put in that added amount of extra work rate, and help keep Real Madrid contained in the dying embers of the game.

Eric Garcia: N/A

Not enough time on the field to warrant a rating.

Franck Kessie: N/A
