Injuries have been quite the damning reality for FC Barcelona in recent seasons. They have often hurt and hindered their sporting objectives, and have in turn pummelled their financial objectives as well. However, it has been a far more complicated relationship than what meets the eye when it comes to Barcelona.
This is because these injuries also have consequences away from the field. Whether it be the mental consequences that come for the players, or the technical issues that it provides to Barcelona itself, the consequences are often dire in their own unique ways.
For better or for worse, those consequences are now jeopardizing another potential operation. The latest victim to injury, Ronald Araujo, could now see his most recent physical problem hinder his hopes of finding a new club even if he hopes to part ways with FC Barcelona.
As SPORT has highlighted, the 25-year-old Uruguayan defender and FC Barcelona are not exactly seeing eye to eye at the moment. In the event of the defender not wanting to renew with the club, there is a clear possibility that La Blaugrana could end up selling the player for the right price.
However, due to his latest muscular injury that could keep him sidelined for two months, a potential departure may be in jeopardy. While this could benefit Barcelona from a sporting perspective, it could be a very restrictive thing when it comes to managing the player’s future in an ideal fashion.
With a contract until 2026, Barcelona would rather renew Ronald Araujo now than let him go for free in the year his contract expires. Moreover, due to this recent injury, it becomes difficult to make that decision right now.
However, the Barcelona defender does have some high-profile suitors, and they would be willing to pay a good fee under the right circumstances.
For Barcelona to retain the player, however, they would need to match those clubs. This means that Barça will need to give an offer to the player that closely matches the ones that the player has on the table from the clubs in Germany and England. At the moment, however, the Uruguayan defender’s future seems unclear and his latest injury only further clouds it.
