The hunt for talent never sleeps at FC Barcelona as they aspire for greatness. Putting faith in the youth is an integral part of Barcelona’s culture and heritage, and it is now something that the club continues to cherish and incorporate.
Many talented youngsters currently play for the Barcelona first team after Xavi Hernandez took a liking towards their talents. From La Masia and elsewhere, this confidence in the youth is exactly what has helped Barca in the past and is also doing so currently given their economic problems.
One of their latest targets was a 16-year-old Argentine midfielder, Alvaro Montoro, who currently plays for Velez Sarsfield in Bueno Aires. He is considered a midfielder possessing great talent and FC Barcelona themselves have long since kept an eye on him to possibly go for him in January.
Given that by January his transfer fee would have been removed altogether, Barcelona would find it to be the perfect opportunity. The Catalan giants wanted to initially incorporate him within the subsidiary, but it seems that a change of plans has taken place.
According to the latest details provided by Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona have decided to leave behind the race for Montoro’s arrival. The 16-year-old is now no longer a priority for Barcelona due to a possible mixture of various different reasons.
Currently, the youngster has attracted massive European interest ranging from the likes of Sevilla, Villarreal, and Roma to even Fiorentina. However, the player himself reportedly wanted to become a Blaugrana but it now seems that the ship for that future is set to pass away.
Either due to economic reasons or sporting ones, Barcelona have decided to no longer pursue the youngster. However, as SPORT highlights, the Catalan giants already have an embarrassment of riches in midfield with the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie De Jong, Gundogan, and even new talents like Fermin Lopez and Aleix Garrido coming in from the subsidiary.
