Many stars, including youngsters from FC Barcelona, often dream of getting the opportunity to represent their respective national teams at some point in their careers. Often times, a call-up to the national team is marked as a major point in any football player’s career.
However, certain players are awarded that privilege much sooner than most others. Such is the case with the latest FC Barcelona star to grace the Spanish football realm, Lamine Yamal.
Only 16 years of age and having already made his debut for the Spanish National team, he continues to live the dream even many seniors of his yearn for.
According to information provided by Mundo Deportivo, Lamine addressed this rise to the Spanish National with Teledeporte. His exclamation that the entire thing has long since been a dream for him was one of the first things he had to say:
“I’m living a dream right now; I’m very happy and I thank my teammates and the coach for giving me their trust, as well as everyone who has helped me along the way.”
The Barcelona player also addressed his decision to choose the Spanish National team over the chance to represent Morocco, something that others such as his father would have been fond of, stating that he is happy with his own decision and he is aware that his future with Spain is only getting started:
“It’s clear that I’m very satisfied with the decision and very happy. It’s going to be a long journey together with Spain, and I hope we win many things together.”
Lastly, the Barcelona academy product even addressed the age difference he possibly feels within this new senior environment given that he himself is only 16 at this point, to which he responded:
“You can tell the difference with the opponents, but also, the passes from my teammates are at a very high level, and that helps a lot.”
Lamine Yamal could next feature for Spain against Cyprus in their upcoming Euro Qualifying clash and then make his next appearance for FC Barcelona after the international break concludes and the Catalan giants take on Real Betis in La Liga.
