FC Barcelona brace themselves to face Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on Sunday as they look to return to winning ways after a disappointing loss to Osasuna last weekend. Hansi Flick’s men will be keen to bounce back with a statement performance.
Only two players have started every single game under Hansi Flick so far – Jules Kounde and Robert Lewandowski. The Polish veteran has started the season in fine form and has been scoring goals for fun both in the league and the Champions League.
Hansi Flick has managed to recapture the best version of the ex-Bayern superstar and he looks the sharpest he has been since his move to Barcelona. As per SPORT, the 36-year-old continues to lead the Pichichi race with aplomb.
Lewandowski currently has seven goals in the league and stands alone at the top of the list for most goals scored. Spanish star Ayoze Perez is closely following him with six goals with Kylian Mbappe, Raphinha, and Giovani Lo Celso scoring five goals.
Both Mbappe and Ayoze had chances to add to their tally last night when Real Madrid faced Villarreal but the game ended 2-0 in Los Blancos’ favor with neither player netting a goal. This gives Lewandowski the chance to pull ahead when Barcelona take on Alaves today.
The Barcelona ace is fresh off scoring a brace midweek against Young Boys in the Champions League and should look to continue his good form against Alaves. If Lewandowski has a good game, more often than not, the Catalan club has a good game too.
A win over Alaves would be the perfect confidence shot that Barcelona need ahead of the international break. It will ensure that the next couple of weeks are extremely positive and let’s hope Lewandowski can inspire us to a memorable victory.
