Just as the season is coming into its final stages, FC Barcelona find a reason to hope again. Collectively, La Blaugrana are gradually returning to their best version, and it is a version that can compete for titles. In their latest outing, Barcelona completely thrashed Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.

A 3-0 scoreline reflected everything that the game was, and it was complete domination from Barcelona. Many of the players from Barça displayed the very best versions of themselves, but a certain Polish striker has recovered an edition of himself that can easily change the entire results of games single-handedly.

As highlighted by SPORT, Robert Lewandowski has once again found his very best self. The former Bayern Munich striker may have had a sluggish 2023 with Barcelona, but 2024 has been a completely different chapter in his story. Fortunately, it is a chapter with a lot of goals in it.

Even against Atletico Madrid, Lewandowski directly participated in all three goals. By providing two sublime assists and scoring a goal that required an unreal sense of placement and finishing technique, he became the first player since Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo in 2016 to contribute to three goals directly against Atletico at their home ground.

This season, despite being heavily criticized for his performances, the striker still maintains impressive numbers. Across his last 12 games, in fact, he has 12 goal contributions. Eight of those contributions come as goals, while four of them have come as assists.

Across the entirety of the ongoing 2023/2024 season, the Polish striker has 20 goals to his name and 9 assists. While these are not nearly his best numbers, they are still respectable figures, and they are a testament to his quality even as he continues to be shunned.

FC Barcelona need Lewandowski to stay in this reborn run of form if they wish to do well in the Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain will be a massive test for La Blaugrana, but with their Polish ace back to his best, Barcelona will have found a new sense of hope to potentially overcome their opponents.
