As is usually the case, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are once again looking to be the two teams that will fight for La Liga trophy this season. The two El Clasico rivals are separated by three points, as Barcelona stand at the top of the table with 24 points after the first 9 games, while the Merengues stand second with 21 points.

There is no doubt that this battle for the league title will be a highly entertaining one. But another entertaining battle that will take place in La Liga this season will be that for the Pichichi award, as Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe are both set to fight to be the top scorer in Spain this season.

As SPORT has reported, the Barcelona superstar has a clear advantage over the Real Madrid forward at this stage of the season. After his hat-trick against Alaves last night, Lewandowski has 10 La Liga goals to his name and is leading the Pichichi list for now.

On the other hand, Mbappe stands third in the rankings, with five goals to his name. He missed the last Madrid derby due to an injury, and although he returned to the starting lineup for the match against Villarreal, he was unable to get on the scoresheet in that game.

The second player on this list is the Villarreal forward Ayoze Perez, who has six goals to his name. However, he has missed the last two games with an injury.

Sharing the third place with Mbappe is another Barcelona player, Raphinha, who also has five goals to his name. Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis also stands in the same position.

Another Barcelona player, Lamine Yamal, is currently sixth in the Pichichi standings with his 4 goals. Several other players, including Vinicius Junior, share this ranking with the young winger.
