With every passing week, Robert Lewandowski continues to amaze the world. Even at 36 years of age, the FC Barcelona forward is proving himself to be one of the deadliest strikers in Europe this season and is already head and shoulders above any other player in La Liga in the goalscoring department.
His current situation is starkly different from that of a few months ago when there were reports and rumors of disagreement with Xavi, and he was also linked with a move away from the Catalan club.
Flick has once again managed to bring out the best in the Polish striker. With his hat trick in last night’s game against Alavés, the Barcelona superstar has now scored 12 goals in 11 matches this season.
As noted by SPORT, with this hat trick, Lewandowski has surpassed Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, who has netted 11 goals across all competitions this season so far.
Haaland is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe, and the fact that Lewandowski is outscoring him at the age of 36 underscores the Pole’s exceptional quality.
Furthermore, it is not only his goals, but his overall play also looks vastly improved than the last season. He is significantly more agile on the pitch and is combining well with his teammates.
This latter aspect was quite clear in the last match, where two of his goals were assisted by Raphinha, and the third was assisted by Eric Garcia. The Brazilian and the Pole are displaying very good chemistry this season, while other players like Pedri, Dani Olmo, and Lamine Yamal have also been combining well with him this season.
After the difficult end to last season, Lewandowski is seemingly once again enjoying himself at Barcelona. Hopefully, he will be able to retain his form and help Flick and Barcelona get a piece of silverware at the end of this season.
