It is still unclear whether or not FC Barcelona will truly make a signing in January or not. The primary issues that persist seems to be the available space according to Financial Fair play. In turn, Barcelona are thus waiting for some economic injections before they can initiate a move.
However, it seems that this limitation is not stopping the Catalans from thinking for the future. As it stands, while they have certain targets for January and for the summer, it now seems that they are willing to make an advance to secure a future signing.
As highlighted by reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are now planning to advance on a deal that could guarantee a certain youngster’s arrival in the summer. The youngster in question is none other than 17-year-old Swedish prodigy, Lucas Bergvall.
According to Romano, Barcelona and Djurgardens have already planned for a new set of meetings. It is hoped that within this new round of meetings, a final agreement can be reached. With only a few days left in January, Barcelona look to finalize any and all pending objections and conditions.
The primary hope and objective for Barça is to first anticipate and overtake German side Eintracht Frankfurt. Their interest in Bergvall has reportedly also been quite extreme, and at the moment, their offer seems to reportedly exceed that of Barça’s.
So to ensure the player’s arrival is in Spain and not in Germany, Barcelona must act quickly. It does help them that the Swede himself seems to have an inclination towards Barcelona. Taking advantage of this, however, is up to the Catalan giants and how effectively they can negotiate and wrap up the deal.
For now, the arrival of Bergvall is still a matter of the summer window. In the present, Barcelona would do well to keep an eye on transfers they can complete before January ends. With the season still strong and ripe for the taking, the club could use some reinforcements.
