One of the main goals for FC Barcelona in the upcoming summer transfer window is to strengthen their midfield. This goal is now even more of a priority after the confirmation of Busquets’ departure at the end of the season.
With the European season of 2022/2023 set to conclude soon, FC Barcelona are also simultaneously hoping to shine light on the new season ahead with the incorporation of top-level recruitments.
The last stop before the season conclusively comes to an end is the UEFA Champions League final itself, in which English side Manchester City and Italian side Inter Milan fight it out to be crowned champions of Europe.
One player that many around the world will definitely be keeping an eye on during the game is German midfielder and current Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan, a key target for Barcelona.
As per a recent update from Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona are attempting to finalize their pursuit of Gundogan as soon as possible and even aim to announce his signing following the final, in which the German and Manchester City could make history by completing the continental treble.
In doing so, the side will become just the second-ever English team to complete the treble following Manchester United’s similar triumph in 1999.
FC Barcelona are also one of the select special few to have completed the continental treble. Moreover, the Catalans are one of only two sides who have completed it twice, in 2009 and in 2015.
