Accelerating their quest to finalize departures and lighten a weighty wage bill, FC Barcelona are frantically racing against time to secure exit operations, which will, in turn, open all sorts of avenues for the Catalans in the transfer market.
A number of players have been rumored to hit the exit ramp, but Barcelona have faced obstructions in their departures. According to Mundo Deportivo, many of the fringe players are closing in on exits, while some will be dealt with after the pre-season.
Among the players who are looking to leave on loan are Nico and Pablo Torre. Torre is close to joining fellow Catalan side Girno on a season long loan while Nico has multiple options on table as well. Only Trincao and Umtiti have left the club from among the players that were sent by the club on loan last season.
Abde is the only player from this group who has a real chance of staying with the Barcelona squad for the next season. He had a good season at Osasuna last year and will complete the pre-season with the Catalan club if a suitable offer does not come in.
Dest is also with the rest of the Barcelona squad in training sessions and is looking to convince Xavi with no other natural right-back present in the squad. Meanwhile, Lenglet is close to a move to Tottenham and Collado is close to an agreement to join Real Betis.
Barcelona are looking to materialize a high-profile sale from their squad as well before the summer transfer window closes. There have been reports of offers for the likes of Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha, but nothing concrete has taken place yet.
Xavi does not want excessive clutter in his squad, and has asked the club to sell any fringe players not needed for the upcoming season.
