FC Barcelona are currently having to endure quite a turbulent phase of their season. Barça are struggling against teams they should be clearly dominant against. However, to ensure that this does not impact the rest of their season, the Catalans need to act quickly.
Their two most recent displays, against Real Sociedad and Shakhtar Donetsk, were quite poor for their standards. The latest defeat to the Ukrainian side has been seen as a wake-up call. Now, Barcelona are already taking initiatives to get back up on their feet.
A star-studded dinner
As highlighted by SPORT, these initiatives are being taken by the coaches and even the players themselves. This Wednesday, the players had a dinner together without the coaching staff being present there. The purpose of this meeting was to address both sports-related problems and internal matters.
Noticing that the atmosphere amongst the players is no longer as strong as it seemed earlier, the captains and leaders of the team have decided to address it. Through this discourse, it is believed that the Barcelona players managed to clear out the air.
Meeting with the coaches
Following that dinner, another meeting took place on Friday. This time, it was between the players and the coaching staff. The main concern of the meeting was to discuss the tactical side of things for the Alaves game as well as address non-sporting issues to help out the squad.
Looking ahead
Reports suggest that the meeting was seen as a really positive one. Issues such as the words of Ilkay Gundogan and the noise surrounding the club were all discussed. Ultimately, it was decided that the players and staff would steer clear of all the noise building outside FC Barcelona.
Since several newcomers are still new to the pressures and noise that typically surround Barcelona, the coaching staff does not want any unnecessary distractions. For now, the goal remains to put on display a stronger performance against Alaves. Afterwards, Barça will hope to start a new chapter after the international break.
