Barcelona and 31-year-old PSG superstar close to agreeing personal terms – report

Former Barcelona forward Neymar

In recent days, the number of reports tying FC Barcelona to various top-level players have rapidly begun to escalate and continue to gain momentum as the summer transfer window soon enters its closing days.

The Catalan club has been associated with many top talents in recent weeks such as Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo, alongside other stars such as Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix and Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda among others.

One name that has gained particular traction is that of Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr who currently remains contracted to French outfit Paris Saint-Germain and the reports linking the 31-year-old to Barcelona have been speculating that negotiations and plans for feasible formulas are advancing at a good rate.

Now, as per Spanish outlet Beteve, Barcelona and Neymar Jr are reportedly extremely close to reaching an agreement on personal terms that would see the 31-year-old Brazilian superstar make his homecoming to the Catalan club this summer.

According to the report, Barcelona are primarily waiting to close down the injection of €60 million that they expect to receive from the German investment fund Libero that is looking to take over a percentage of Barca Studios, with the announcement now having become official.

A key player in this operation is agent Pini Zahavi, who also represents Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski. Zahavi’s involvement is facilitated by his good relations with Barcelona President Joan Laporta.

As part of the arrangement, Barcelona aim to allocate €12 million towards Neymar Jr’s salary, an amount they deem feasible for them to pay. Moreover, the Brazilian superstar and his current club PSG are currently engaged in ongoing discussions to find a suitable solution for both parties.

A proposal from Saudi Arabia, which could potentially serve as a three-way link to Barcelona, is still under consideration. This proposal remains the most feasible path to bring Neymar Jr back to the Catalan giants.

If the operation mentioned ends up in fruition, Barcelona would not be extending any particular transfer cost and would only be helping in allocating a portion of Neymar Jr’s salary for the year that he spends with Barcelona while remaining permanently contracted to the Saudi Arabian club.
