FC Barcelona remain attentive to the needs of Xavi Hernandez and their ever-evolving squad at the club, as the Catalans look to reinforce the team well heading into the new season so that they are able to compete for every possible competition.
The loss of a particular Frenchman by the name of Ousmane Dembele has been a recent blow for Barcelona as they see the winger set to leave for French side Paris Saint-Germain with a contract slated to keep him with the Parisians until 2028.
However, it appears that Barcelona may be set to lose yet another Frenchman, although this transfer was a long way coming, unlike the one that is taking place with the French winger headed to Paris.
As per Spanish journalist Fernando Polo through Mundo Deportivo, French central defender Clement Lenglet could soon see himself make a move towards the Middle East as FC Barcelona continue negotiations with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr to finalize a move away for the 28-year-old.
From reports concerning the topic, the news thus far is that Barcelona do not expect to receive a sizeable transfer fee for the transfer of the player but instead are keen on offloading his massive salary from their wage bill, something that they otherwise would have kept having to facilitate until 2026.
Moreover, the economic offer from Al-Nassr to the player is expected to be an enticing one. The Saudi Arabian side hopes that it is an attractive enough lure to persuade the player to step away from European football and instead make his way to the Middle East, where he could possibly play alongside other big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo Brozovic.
It remains to be seen how legitimate these negotiations are and how advanced their proceedings will develop in order to finalize an agreement between Barcelona and Al-Nassr in a formula that pleases both entities.
