Up next for FC Barcelona in terms of their urgent priority is the summer transfer window. Having seen some of their biggest rivals celebrate great success this season, Barça wish to return to the pedestal too. To make that a reality, Barcelona are hoping to effectively make the most out of the upcoming transfer period.

However, there are some deals that require a substantial amount of time for negotiations. This can vary from simply being expensive top-level operations or others that are complicated by design. When it comes to the latter, Barcelona are hoping to get a lot of things done with their Catalan neighbors as well.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Girona will look to finalize several interconnected operations in the summer. This includes players that Barcelona are no longer willing to keep, while also using it as leverage to retain one of Girona’s very own who is currently at the Catalan club.

The trio of Oriol Romeu, Eric Garcia, and Pablo Torre are essentially the names that Girona is interested in. Both Garcia and Torre, two Barcelona loanees, have already spent this season with the red and white Catalan outfit and have progressed in their own ways. Garcia has become a regular starter for Michel, while Torre has seen both ups and downs.

When it comes to the former Manchester City defender, Girona are quite insistent on retaining Eric Garcia. Moreover, the player himself would love to stay there as he has much more of a guarantee of playing as a starter there as compared to Barcelona, while also knowing that since they have achieved qualification to the UEFA Champions League, he will be playing in Europe’s premier competition next season.

Pablo Torre, on the other hand, is a player that Girona values but does not consider a necessity. They would be willing to retain him on another possible loan but are not as insistent about it as they would be with the continuity of Eric Garcia at the club.

Oriol Romeu, however, is a player that Barcelona themselves are looking to part ways with. With each passing week, especially with Girona reportedly being willing to take him back, his return to his former club becomes more and more of a possibility.

On the other hand, the player that FC Barcelona themselves look to take away permanently from Girona is Pau Victor. An in-form forward in the Barcelona subsidiary, on loan from Girona, his quality is very appreciated within Barça’s technical and sporting doors.

The Catalan would be happy to see him continue but simply through leveraging his €3 million buy option by shifting around the finances in the other operations being discussed rather than having to outright pay it directly.
