Consistently pondering approaches for arrivals at Barcelona is only one end of the spectrum, the Catalan club is very much concerned with easing the wage bill as well as offloading players that are surplus to requirement at the club.
The cases of various loanees and out-of-favor players are still under further assessment at FC Barcelona, but there are a handful of stars whose departure La Blaugrana believe must be finalized as soon as possible.
According to the Spanish outlet SPORT, it is widely believed that one of the names that Barcelona are hoping to sell as soon as possible is that of Clement Lenglet. The French defender has just recently ended his season-long loan spell at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, but it is believed that the Catalans are looking for a more permanent solution.
The report states that while Tottenham have indeed decided to end their temporary partnership with Lenglet despite his rather strong season for them, Barcelona suspect it may be a way for Spurs to get the Catalan club to reduce their asking price for the Frenchman, which was originally €15 million.
On the other hand, Barcelona believe that a middle ground would be the best-positioned alternative for both sides. With Spurs currently offering only up to €5 million for the central defender, Barca believe a middle point of €10 million would be ideal if neither party manage to get the price they consider to be their best endeavor.
Clement Lenglet arrived at Barcelona from Sevilla for a fee of around €36 million in 2018/2019. While the 28-year-old central defender has had his fair share of solid performances, once they began to decline he began to rapidly lose prominence within the first team as well.
No longer in the plans of Xavi Hernandez, FC Barcelona are now hoping to offload the Frenchman alongside a handful of other players that the coach does not count on for the future in the hopes of generating necessary funds.
