Barcelona announce the winners of the Spotify Camp Nou Awards

As FC Barcelona prepare themselves to bid farewell to their ever-fabled and beloved Camp Nou, they do so with multiple mini-events leading up to it. The game against Mallorca being their final outing at the stadium until at least November of 2024, it is expected to also pull in a large crowd.

The Catalan club has just released their “Spotify Camp Nou Awards” following the time for voting by fans, and the resulting winners are as follows:

Best Goal: Lionel Messi vs Getafe

In what is an iconic goal not just for fans of La Blaugrana but for global football in general, this specific Lionel Messi goal is one that allowed many to fall in love with the sport.

The 2007 Copa Del Ray semi-final first leg saw Getafe visit Camp Nou for a game that would end in a 5-2 victory for the Catalans, but the key takeaway of the night and for many years since has been that Messi’s solo run, coupled with that iconic “Ankara Messi” Arabic commentary that floats around to this date in a viral clip, and the consequent goal he scored, reminiscent and almost identical to the one scored by Diego Maradona against England in the 1986 FIFA World Cup.

Best Celebration: MSN Trio

The fearsome trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar Jr was one that terrorized European defenders for as long as they played together. In the category for the Best Celebration award, the trio’s immortalized celebration in a 3-1 victory over Atletico Madrid was voted as the winner.

Following Lionel Messi’s goal, that made the scoreline 3-1 in Barca’s favor, all three forwards ran across the goal to the left side while having an arm around one another to create a memorable image that to this day is used by many when addressing the elite South American trio.

Best Game: Barcelona 6-1 PSG

Arguably the greatest and biggest comeback to this day in UEFA Champions League history, the game in question saw Barcelona overturn a 4-0 deficit from the first leg at the Parc des Princes, a first of its kind in football history.

Winning 6-1 in the second leg courtesy of a last-minute goal by Sergi Roberto that was assisted by Neymar Jr, who gave a man-of-the-match performance on the night with 2 goals and a game-winning assist, the game has since become engraved in the minds of the footballing world and in particular fans of FC Barcelona.

Best Mosaic: Johan Cruyff Tribute

The tribute given to Johan Cruyff in the April 2016 iteration of El Clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid was voted as the best mosaic in Camp Nou history.

Dedicated to Johan Cruyff following his passing on the 24th of March 2016, FC Barcelona and their fans prepared and presented a gigantic mosaic with the slogan “Gracies Johan” (Thanks, Johan) in their 2nd April 2016 clash against Real Madrid in their La Liga game.
