There are up to eleven players whose contracts with FC Barcelona are set to expire in 2026, and this is a situation that needs urgent attention from the decision-makers at the Catalan club.
Recent reports on the subject indicated that the Blaugranes are already working on some of these renewals, but they cannot renew all of these players because of their limited salary margin.
The latest report on this subject has been published by Mundo Deportivo, which claims that there are three players in particular whom the Catalans are looking to renew in the months to come.
The first of these three players is Pedri, with whom the club has a very good relationship. The player himself feels himself to be valued in the team led by Hansi Flick, particularly so after the injury-ridden 2023-24 season.
Under Flick, the Canarian is once again proving himself to be a decisive player, and his physicality is also improving with the specific preparation plan that Barcelona made up for him.
Deco has already met with Hector Peris, Pedri’s agent, to show the club’s intent on renewing his contract and showing their confidence in him. Although an agreement is not really close at hand for now, his renewal can be closed before the end of this season.
Another player whose renewal is a priority for the Blaugranes is Gavi, and the Catalans believe that this will be easier to achieve as well as the player himself has the dream of succeeding at Barcelona, especially after suffering a very serious injury last season.
Barcelona have also not had any doubts about Gavi’s quality, even after his ACL tear, and this fact is clear from Deco’s communication to Ivan de la Pena, Gavi’s agent, of the Blaugrana club’s desire to renew him. For now, the midfielder is focusing entirely on returning from his injury, but Barcelona want to arrive at an agreement for a renewal before the end of this season.
Lastly, the third player that Barcelona are prioritizing for a renewal is the Uruguayan center-back, Ronald Araujo. The Catalans have already offered his agents a new contract, but the defender is yet to respond to this new offer from the Blaugranes.
However, the report claims that Araujo is now warming up to the idea of a renewal, especially after seeing the team perform at a high level under Flick.
The Uruguayan has publicly declared that he wants to win trophies, and the interest from Bayern Munich offered him a good chance to win the UEFA Champions League and Bundesliga. But under Flick, Barcelona are also looking like candidates for this trophy, and this can prove to be decisive in Araujo’s renewal.
