Ronaldinho’s son, Joao Mendes de Assis Moreira, has terminated his contract with Brazilian club Cruzeiro, and is currently in Catalonia, undergoing tests to join Barcelona’s academy as per Más Que Pelotas.
If the tests go well and the coaches give the green signal for his incorporation, Joao can go on to play an important part in the club’s history, though the pressure to fulfill the potential of his father’s name will be immense.
President Joan Laporta himself is overseeing the whole operation and is in consistent communication with Ronaldinho, who is still associated with the club not only through his legendary status but also in the role of an ambassador. However, the decision on whether Joao is to join La Masia will ultimately be taken by the coaches.
Joao himself plays mainly as a center forward, reaches a height of 1.78 meters, and has the Left one as his stronger and preferred foot. The player has already displayed professional maturity beyond his years, as it is being reported that he consciously hid his identity when signing for Cruzeiro at the age of 14, in order to avoid any advantages from the coaches or the management and to rise in the game purely on his gaming merits.
