The arrival of top talents at FC Barcelona is always a welcome addition to one of the absolute best clubs in the world. Drizzled with a storied past and a long list of great players that have graced football fields across Europe and the world, there is no shortage of those also willing to embark on a journey wearing the Barcelona crest on their chest.
Yet, to ensure that these dreams are materialized, Barcelona must currently assess and solve the difficulties they continue to face on an economic front. With various targets across Europe still considered to be great acquisitions, Barcelona have their eyes set on a particular 18-year-old youngster.
Arda Guler of Turkish side Fenerbahce is a young prodigy who mainly plays as a right winger, with a deadly left foot, or as an attacking midfielder. New Sporting Director Deco in particular is fascinated by the young Turk and the Brazilian has gone out of his way to ensure talks progress.
Moreover, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona can be considered as the current front runner in the race for the 18-year-old prodigy, as they look to provide him an offer to join the club next year, as of right now.
While the player is reportedly keen on making the jump to top European football this summer, he is willing to wait for Barcelona given his personal preference towards the Blaugrana outfit, and for the operation to work, the Catalans are willing to negotiate his price in two halves.
Currently attached to the player is a release clause of €17.5 million, something that Barcelona believes paying in full at the moment will cause issues with financial fair play, and Deco has thus talked to the Fenerbahce heads and the player’s representatives to propose the idea of paying a part of the release clause value right now, letting the player stay in Turkey for another year, and then paying the rest of the remaining amount next year and bring him over to Barcelona.
However, Barcelona are trying to play it safe and have thus presented a hypothetical offer to the player and his entourage, which if the player and his current side choose to accept, Deco will reportedly try to seal the agreement next week.
Despite all said conditions still being addressed, it is no secret that the ideal will of the player would be to represent Barcelona this summer rather than wait till 2024, but the only way for that possibility to materialize would be through the currently improbable sale of another significant value.
