Barcelona have to make decisions regarding the squad within the next 10 days, keeping in mind potential departures and arrivals. There are quite a few players at the club whose futures are uncertain.
One such player is Ansu Fati. The 21-year-old Barcelona wonderkid started off the pre-season under Hansi Flick only to suffer an injury in the lead-up to the US tour. There is no clarity on when the Spanish international will be back.
Despite his injury, as per SPORT, Barcelona are holding on to him for the time being as they continue their search for a left-winger. The club has been linked with moves for the likes of Federico Chiesa and Rafael Leao in recent days.
The report adds that Fati is aware that he might have to move out again on loan in search of regular minutes should Barcelona manage to sign a new left-winger. A sale is not being considered this summer, unless the offer comes from Saudi Arabia. Fenerbahce is also an option but the player doesn’t fancy a move to either of those countries.
The 21-year-old forward is certainly not short of options to go out on loan. Sevilla, Benfica and Wolves have all expressed varying degrees of interest in taking Fati on loan but the player’s preference remains unknown.
Barcelona’s idea is to save wages and at the same time make sure Fati receives the minutes that he deserves. Hansi Flick did admit that he is willing to ‘wait’ for the Spanish international to recover and return to training.
The German coach clearly sees something in the Barcelona youngster to persist with him in the first team. This could prompt the club to retain Fati this season but it remains to be seen if he gets enough minutes considering the immense competition in the attacking areas. Barcelona fans would love nothing more to see the 21-year-old back to his best and let’s see how it goes.
