There continues to be some tension within FC Barcelona in regards to their growing injury list. While it is true that the Catalan club has managed to get by so far despite their problems, it is also true that these issues will only continue to become more frustrating. That is why, as soon as possible, Barcelona wishes to address them.
The most important and urgent of these issues is that of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s injury. Due to the German goalkeeper’s recent injury in the win over Villarreal, it became clear to the club that they must tend to the issue immediately or else it could have drastic consequences.
However, the issue that has come up now is that Barcelona want to sign a replacement for Ter Stegen urgently but the options are rather limited. The players that they can possibly sign have to be free agents but also need to have a salary that can be allocated using a percentage of Ter Stegen’s salary.
For that reason, it seems that Barcelona have identified a former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper who is currently without a club. This particular keeper, as highlighted by SPORT, is none other than 37-year-old Spaniard Antonio Adan, whose most recent club was Sporting CP over in Portugal, and Barcelona continues to keep an eye on him.
Moreover, his vast experience in La Liga is something that works in his favor in terms of appealing to Barcelona. With a past that originates from the youth teams of Real Madrid, and then even goes into playing for Real Betis and Atletico Madrid, he is a true veteran of the Spanish First Division.
Furthermore, having played under the guidance of Heiko Westermann previously at Real Betis, a man who now helps Hansi Flick at Barcelona, the club has a good idea about his profile and the type of quality he would bring. However, despite this interest, even if he ends up arriving there is still no guarantee that he would overtake Inaki Pena in the team’s hierarchy or if Pena would only be getting a backup.
