Barcelona ended up becoming last season’s La Liga champions through some gritty performances. While they were not always the most dominantly fluid team to watch, they remained resilient at all times. This particular quality seems to have carried on to the Barcelona of this season as well.

As they continue their run into 2024, Barcelona have given a reminder of exactly how dangerous they can be. Despite struggling in certain points of the game, Barça ultimately took on Las Palmas and came away with a victory.

The goal that gave them the victory, however, came in the dying embers of the game. Courtesy of Ilkay Gundogan’s composure in taking his penalty, Barcelona took away all three points from the game. However, this is not the first of such occurrences by any means.

In fact, as Mundo Deportivo highlights, Barcelona have made this a dangerous habit. When it comes to La Liga EA Sports, no team is as dangerous as Barcelona in the final moments of a game. To be precise, Barcelona are the side that have collected the most points in the last 15 minutes of games this season.

Statistically speaking, they have accumulated 27 of the 41 points they have this season in that time frame. Moreover, they have scored 15 of their 36 total goals in those final 15 minutes of the league games this season. While this could seem problematic, it always reflects character.

The trend began with Matchday 2, when they took on Cadiz at the Montjuic. With two goals past the 80th minute mark, Barça emerged as 2-0 victors. The instances were repeated against Osasuna, Celta Vigo, Sevilla, Athletic Bilbao, Real Sociedad, Deportivo Alaves, Almeria, and now Las Palmas.

While all those aforementioned games ended in victory and granted 3 points each, there were also other results. Draws against the likes of Mallorca and Granada were also achieved courtesy of some rather dramatically late goals.
