With just about a week to go in the transfer window, Barcelona are in the final leg of a marathon to try and make the team more competitive ahead of the new campaign. To make signings, however, departures need to happen.

The club is making exits happen throughout this week to move ahead and secure players they want to sign. One player on the club’s radar who happens to be a great market opportunity this summer is Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

We covered a story last night revealing that Barcelona were planning an initial bid worth €9 million fixed and another €4 million in variables to submit to Juventus to try and sign the 26-year-old. Chiesa is not a part of Thiago Motta’s plans and the club needs to sell him this summer.

As per Calciomercato via SPORT, Barcelona have asked Chiesa to make a financial effort to join the club this summer. The Catalan club wants the 26-year-old to reduce his salary from around €5m per year to €4m per year.

This will help Barcelona complete this deal without breaking Financial Fair Play. The Spanish club is struggling to register players in La Liga and needs to ensure that they can before pulling the trigger on Chiesa’s purchase.

Despite his injury issues in the past couple of seasons, the transfer price at which Chiesa is available this summer will make him an excellent acquisition for Barcelona. It will be a low-risk transfer with massive upsides for the Spanish club.

Chiesa would fit into the left-wing role at Barcelona. At his best, he can be unplayable and the only concern for Hansi Flick’s coaching team would be to keep him fit and on the pitch. The 26-year-old would be a great coup for the Catalan club and the next few days will be crucial in how this transfer pans out.
