Within the offices of FC Barcelona, the higher-ups of the club continue to evaluate and assess the best possible routes to take in order to bring in players that would reinforce the side and have been requested by Xavi Hernandez himself.
Various positions are up for debate, and the Catalan club is considering which player they would like to have reinforce said positions. For now, Barcelona have chosen to focus on the positions of an offensive interior midfielder and the acquisition of a right-back.
In the case of the offensive interior, there is really only one name that stands out and continues to be the absolute priority for FC Barcelona, and that name is Bernardo Silva of Manchester City and the Portuguese National team.
His arrival remains a comprehensive hurdle that La Blaugrana are hoping to overcome. Regular meetings have been held between Joan Laporta, Deco, and Mateu Alemany to discuss the possibility and decision to bring in Bernardo Silva, who remains the gold target within all the other options.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona primarily intend to send an initial offer to Manchester City that would see Bernardo Silva move to the Catalan club for a season on loan before a mandatory clause to buy kicks in at the end of the 2023/2024 season for which a sizeable fee can be arranged.
As a contingency, if Manchester City decide to reject this initial offer by Barcelona, the Catalan club will then proceed to attempt to directly purchase the services of the 28-year-old midfielder as various reports have suggested, including MD.
Moreover, as per both the report in question and Catalan journalist Gerard Romero, Barcelona have already informed the offices of La Liga that they intend to make a move for Bernardo Silva with a salary of €11 million net over a three-season contract being allocated to him.
Barcelona also hope that Manchester City and Pep Guardiola in particular hold true to their word to Bernardo Silva suggesting that they would openly let him leave to any club of his choice if an adequate financial offer arrives from said club.
The player is attracted to Barcelona and acknowledges that if the Catalan club can put the right offer on the table, he would aid them by discussing his departure himself with Pep Guardiola and convincing him to let him leave.
As it stands, Barcelona are well aware of the difficulty of this operation, but those within the club remain adamant that even if it is just barely within their capabilities, it is an operation that is worth trying for until every option has been tested.
