For FC Barcelona, market opportunities are something they always seem to keep an eye out for. With their current financial mess weighing them down heavily, chances to sign top players are hardly frowned upon. However, Barcelona still need to tread carefully given the mistakes they have made in the past.

With that in mind, La Blaugrana definitely hope to sign a new kind of attacking threat in the summer. Reports suggest that they want an ‘unbalancing’ figure to enter the team’s frontline, and while this could be through some unique blend of explosiveness, it seems certain that Barça would like to seize any good opportunity.

Now, as per Mundo Deportivo, it seems that they are going to do so by contesting with a familiar rival. Mason Greenwood, a player for Manchester United who is currently on loan at Getafe, has reportedly enticed both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid simultaneously.

As per the report, the current price set for the player’s acquisition sits at €40 million. Both Barcelona and Atletico Madrid reportedly are keen on acquiring him, and Manchester United seem to have no interest in taking back the English forward.

For them, he could actually end up acting as a barter figure in their chase for Frenkie De Jong. The Dutch midfielder is speculated to be open to a move away from the Catalan club, and United have always dreamt of taking him away. With Greenwood involved, they could look to reduce the Barcelona star’s final transfer fee.

In terms of his numbers, the 22-year-old English forward has been quite the revelation in Spain. Across his 24 games for Getafe, he has scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists across all competitions. As such, it comes as no surprise that many teams have their eyes on him.
