Currently on loan at FC Barcelona, Joao Felix is one of the most divisive players in football today. The player is liked to a very high extent by some, while he has also faced criticism throughout his career for some of the deficiencies in his game and for his personality.

He faced this criticism during his time at Atletico Madrid and Chelsea and has also faced it when playing with Barcelona. However, such criticism has only made him more resistant to the opinions of his detractors.

Felix’s main strengths are his dribbling and goal-scoring, but when the Portuguese international is unable to shine in these two areas, he does not appear to be doing much on the field. His lack of defensive work particularly invites criticism from some areas.

People close to Felix know that the attacker is going through a difficult time right now, but also points out that he was the La Liga MVP for December, particularly because of his goal against Atletico Madrid.

He had also scored the winning goal against Porto that sent Barcelona to the Round of 16. In total, the Portuguese forward has scored six goals and provided three assists.

Meanwhile, his entourage is also making the point that the last few matches against Valencia and Almeria should not tarnish his image, as he has been playing well even without the ball, and that’s how he became a starter for Xavi.

Another aspect on which Felix faced a lot of criticism is his lack of consistency. SPORT reports that the player knows that, and is taking it as a challenge in 2024 to improve his consistency. He will now try to shine more often on the pitch.

Felix’s frequent changes in environments in the last two years have made the player more focused on the now and here, and he does not make very intricate plans for the future. Thus, he will be focusing on giving his best in the upcoming months, and only then worry about his long-term future at Barcelona.
