As FC Barcelona continue to look for a replacement for Sergio Busquets in their squad, one of the players who has been associated with the Catalan club for this role for a long time is the German midfielder, Joshua Kimmich.
The midfielder is a key player for his current side, Bayern Munich, but his relations with the Bavarians have been rather volatile for the last year or so. This relationship has been even more tense since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the club’s head coach.
An update on this matter has been provided by SPORT, which claims that the relationship between Kimmich and Tuchel is completely broken, and Bayern Munich will have to make a decision about whom they want to retain going forward.
If Kimmich is to stay at Munich, Tuchel will have to be dismissed. With things reaching such a boiling point, Barcelona are highly attentive to the situation of both Tuchel and Kimmich.
The latter’s contract with Bayern Munich is expiring in 2025, and despite several attempts by the club, he has yet to agree on a contract renewal.
The Germans will be looking to settle this matter before the end of the season, but if a renewal cannot be agreed upon, Bayern will put Kimmich on the market in order not to lose him for free next year.
Bayern are open to offers in the range of €65 million for the midfielder, but his contractual situation can force the Bavarians to sell him for a lesser amount.
Barcelona have long been interested in the German midfielder, but the Catalans will not be able to make a move for him this summer and can get him only if he arrives for free in 2025. Meanwhile, Manchester City and PSG will be looking to sign him if they get an opportunity this summer.
On the other hand, Thomas Tuchel is also being looked upon by Barcelona, mainly because of his highly varied experience at the highest level, and for his winning the Champions League with Chelsea.
If he is free at the end of the season, Deco can try to bring him to Barcelona, but he has a track record of asking for signings from his new clubs, and this is something that the Catalans cannot offer at the moment.
