While the transfer window may be the current priority for FC Barcelona, for others there are still different priorities left to work upon. Such is the case for a top transfer priority for La Blaugrana, whose current objectives lie in achieving a sensation dream with his current club Manchester City.

32-year-old German veteran and maestro Ilkay Gundogan is currently amongst the players that FC Barcelona are undoubtedly after in terms of acquiring their signatures. The player is a top-level prospect despite his obviously advanced age and continues to showcase it under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola, former Barca manager and player, at Manchester City.

The German midfielder has not decided to renew with his current club in the Premier League however, as he is supposedly looking for a new horizon to play in for what would possibly be his final major European contract given his age.

While the Catalans are prepared to go for him officially and have already conducted several talks through Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff with the player’s representatives, the player himself has made it clear that his final decision is yet to be made.

The German has instead decided to wait till the end of the season, at which point Manchester City would have finalized their attempt at their dream treble as per Mundo Deportivo.

The Citizens are currently on a conquest to complete the treble, a feat only a select few in history have managed to achieve and FC Barcelona themselves have managed to complete it a record two times, and are hoping to have all three major titles under their belt come the end of the season.

They compete against Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, await the final of the FA Cup against Manchester United in June, and are currently 1 point above second-placed Arsenal in the Premier League with a game in hand still to play.

It is expected that following the conclusion of these competitions, Ilkay Gundogan will have his answer ready for FC Barcelona, one that is reportedly going to be favorable for the Catalans. Until then, it remains fascinating to see just how far Gundogan and Manchester City manage to reach out in their historic attempt.
