The 2023-2024 season has only barely kicked off, but preparations for the 2024-25 season are already underway at FC Barcelona. This is particularly the case with the kit that the team will be wearing in its matches over the season.

Currently, FC Barcelona has the traditional blue and garnet as their first kit, a white one as their second kit, and a turquoise one as their third kit.

The second white kit has particularly been a topic of debate as it has been a while since Barcelona last wore white, and it is also a color that is closely associated with Barcelona’s arch-rivals, Real Madrid.

Barcelona to wear black as their second kit next season

Now, SPORT has already claimed that they know what color FC Barcelona are going to wear as their second kit for the next season. The main color for this future second kit is going to be black, and there will only be two other areas with other colors on the shirt.

A blue and red stripe will be around the neck, and the sides will also have these traditional Barcelona colors. The name of the sponsor, Spotify, will also have a changed color. This logo will be in red for the upcoming season, while currently, it is white on the first kit and blue on the second white kit.

Four seasons with a black kit

FC Barcelona have worn black in four different seasons over its history. The first time that Barcelona chose black for one of their kits was in 2011-2012, Pep Guardiola’s last season at the Catalan club. This was a highly simplistic design, with only the Nike emblem and the name of the sponsor in bright yellow.

In the following year, this second kit became the club’s third kit, as was the norm at that time. It was only in 2013 that a new third kit was started to be created, and in that year, Barcelona once again went with black as the color for their third kit. This time the kit was quite simple once again, with only phosphor lines on the sides and La Senyera on the back of the neck.

The last time Barcelona wore a black kit was in 2020-21. In this season, the kit was complemented with golden color on sleeves, collars, shields, and logos. In total, the club has worn a black kit for twenty matches, twelve in La Liga, six in the Champions League, one in Copa del Rey, and another time in a friendly.
