While all the big European clubs have a specific character that sets them apart from one another, FC Barcelona is one of the most easily recognizable clubs in the world because of its history, traditions, and playing style.

However, despite these differences, there are still some temporary resemblances to be found among these major clubs. This is definitely the case for Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the last few weeks.

Despite the geographical and cultural distance between them, both these clubs have similar aspirations and both are going through an underwhelming season. Furthermore, both clubs are also on the lookout for a new manager, as their current managers are expected to leave at the end of the season.

The similarities do not end here, as both these clubs are also showing their interest in the same names to be their next trainers. For instance, Hansi Flick and Xabi Alonso have both been linked with these clubs, albeit to a varying degree of intensity.

Similarly, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Italian coach Roberto de Zerbi is also now the subject of interest from both these clubs. The Italian has been associated with Barcelona for some time now, and now reports coming from Bavaria indicate that Bayern Munich are also considering the Italian as an alternative to Xabi Alonso.

The Bayern Sporting Director, Max Eberl, has a positive outlook on the manager and is happy that there is a release clause in his Brighton contract which can be activated in the summer.

As things stand, the Bavarians are quite clear about the name that they want to replace Thomas Tuchel with. For this purpose, the Bayern hierarchy is trying to convince their former midfielder, Xabi Alonso to commit to them, after having impressed with his Bayer Leverkusen side this season.

On the other hand, there is more uncertainty in Barcelona as the Catalans have to explore their options while keeping in mind the economic handicaps affecting them. But as previously reported, the Blaugranes have also now finalized their shortlist of four candidates.
