Estanis Pedrola has turned heads this year with his performances at the subsidiary levels of Barcelona. The player has an astonishing 7 goals in 14 games, with 6 of his total tally having come in the last 9 games alone.
The Barcelona youngster faced a challenging season following an injury around September, which would ultimately see him miss out on 3 months of game time from September all the way to December. Upon his return, however, his excellence in front of goal and his overall quality have ensured that Barca Atletic keep themselves cemented in the play-off zones of the league standings.
In their most recent game against CE Sabadell, it was thanks to Pedrola’s two goals that ensured a 2-1 victory that would see the Blaugrana outfit continue their strong stride from the past couple of games. The 19-year-old winger has had sparks of brilliance and match-altering moments throughout the season, and particularly since the start of 2023.
The player has managed to score two braces as well in the league this season, the most recent one against Sabadell and a prior one against Alcoyano on matchday 25. The player was also the first player from the squad to score for the side at the start of this 2022/2023 season, in the league opener against Castellon in a 3-2 victory.
Barcelona remain adamant that they seem to have found an undiscovered gem within their ranks and will now try their respective best to tie him down for the nearby future. They want to avoid scenarios like those of Ilias Akhomach and Victor Barbera and ensure the continuity of other gems.
As they did with Angel Alarcon with prioritizing his stay, they intend to do so with Estanis Pedrola as well according to the reports from SPORT. However, reports suggest a lot of the weightage that decides whether Pedrola remains next season is the promotion to the next tier of Spanish football. Should Barca Atletic manage to achieve it, Pedrola is quite likely to continue at the club.
While he has already made his first team debut as well under Xavi Hernandez in a 1-0 victory over Mallorca last season when he was brought on for the last 10 minutes of the game, the Spanish manager continues to keep tabs on the youngster and has been impressed thus far this season. So much so that Xavi has included Pedrola in multiple first-team training sessions already, including the recent group training preparing for the Elche clash during the international break.
A priority now for FC Barcelona, it remains to be seen what extent of urgency they deploy when it comes to Pedrola’s continuity. The 19-year-old himself remains focused on the subsidiary for now, however, as he said so himself, but will inevitably welcome any and all opportunities thrown his way courtesy of Xavi and the first team.
