FC Barcelona have already announced the dismissal of Xavi Hernandez as the head coach after the game against Sevilla tonight, and while it is not yet officially announced, Hansi Flick looks the most likely candidate to replace the former midfielder on the Barcelona bench.

This change in the coaching position will naturally have a lot of implications for the team in the coming season, especially keeping in view the different styles that Flick and Xavi adapt on the pitch.

But beyond the pitch, this managerial change will also have an impact on the Catalan club’s market activities, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, Barcelona understand that one of the ways this impact can manifest itself in the coming months is by convincing the 29-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder, Joshua Kimmich, to join their team.

The pivot position has been one of the clear areas of weakness for the Blaugranes this season, and strengthening this area will be a priority of the club irrespective of who the next coach is going to be.

For now, Barcelona are preparing for the incorporation of Guido Rodriguez, who is going to replace Oriol Romeu if the club’s FFP position allows.

But Joshua Kimmich is another player that the Catalans like a lot in this position, and with his contract expiring in 2025, getting him out of Bayern Munich this summer might not be too difficult.

Flick had Kimmich playing under him when he was the manager at the Bavarian club and also when he coached the German national team.

Thus, the German tactician is fully aware of the quality that the Bayern Munich midfielder will bring, while he is also acquainted with his versatility as he can play both as a pivot and as a right back.

For now, Barcelona are working to get back to the 1:1 rule, and for this purpose, have already finalized a sponsorship agreement with Nike, while also working on other possible ways of generating funds into the club.
